It’s a dedicated solution for mobile device management for organizations to manage secure access and monitoring of devices across the enterprise.

How to Add a User in Microsoft Intune
If you have a Microsoft Intune Subscription, this is how the Dashbord looks like
This is Microsoft Intune Admin Centre Aka Dashboard
As you can see the options and features listed in Intune as follows:
- Home
- Dashboard
- All Services
- Devices
- Apps
- Endpoint Security
- Reports
- Users
- Groups
- Tenant Administration
- Support
These are all options listed under Microsoft Intune Solution.
But as we are creating a new user, we need a particular set of option here.
To Create a New User, Navigate to “Users” Section on the left
This is the Users Section in Microsoft Intune.
To Create User > Click New User
This Section also lists users already created earlier.
There are 4 sections to create a user.
We need to fill and update these sections and provide addtional information for user creation.
Basics Section of User Creation in Intune
- User Principal Name
- Nickname
- Display Name
- Password
Click Next > Properties to update additonal information
Fill all the essential option fields displayed here
As I have already filled, this is how it looks in Intune.
Click Next and Proceed to another section of user properties.
Assignments section is important here in intune because this is how intune differentiates all users under it’s admin centre.
Not Every Employee or user require same set of functions and access roles in an organization.
Here for sample purposes, I am selecting “Global Administrator role”
Click “Review +Create” to proceed.
The last part of user setup in intune requires to add a group to the user.
These are used to keep the user associated in a group.
Select any group you which to add the user in the Organization.
Groups can be departments also as well as project-based groups which are temporary in an organization.
Click Review+ Create to Finally Create a New User in Microsoft Intune.
This is the view of our user being created in Microsoft Intune.
To View User in Intune which we created, go to Users section
and search for your recent created ones, this is mine in intune.
Important Sections for every user in Intune include:
- Overview
- Audit Logs
- Sign In logs
- Applications
- Groups
- Administrsative Units
- Licenses
- Devices
To Summarize this is how users are created in intune.
Actually, on a surface level, Identities and users are created in an Identity solution or IAM.
Here, In Microsoft we have ENTRA ID.
So essentially users in intune are created with the help of IAM Solution beign deployed internally in intune.
As you know, Intune is not an IAM Solution, but an MDM Solution used to manage devices in an organization as part of BYOD Policies.
